Origins and Discovery

Beauly is a charming village located just 12 miles west of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. It is well known for its history, culture, artisan shops and tranquil setting.

It is an area of extensive history. The focal point in the village being Beauly Priory, founded around 1230 by Vallicaulin monks; this peaceful ruin is centre of the village. It also features in the popular series ‘Outlander’ and is in good company, as only c. 15 miles away is the scene and castle from Traitors!

Today, The Square in Beauly, including Beaufort House hosts a mix of shops and cafes, the majority of which are independently owned, contributing to Beauly’s vibrant community and appealing atmosphere for visitors.

Beaufort House itself in which the MacKenzie Apartment sits, with its classic stone façade, is an example of the traditional architecture found in the Scottish Highlands. Situated in Beauly’s main square the house is part of a cluster of historic buildings, adding to the charm and historic appeal of the village centre.

Although The MacKenzie Apartment and Beaufort House have been in the MacKenzie family for most of the last century, historically it was associated with the Lovat Clan, where the Clan Castle is Beaufort Castle, only 3 miles away. Through the 19th and early 20th Centuries it is believed that Beaufort House housed estate managers of factors who oversaw the operations of Beaufort Estate.

Reviews

I stayed here while on a 5 week work placement in Inverness and absolutely loved it. I felt right at home from the beginning and the apartment had everything you could need it was like home. The hosts were brilliant with any questions and checked in regularly to make sure everything was ok. I had a broken wrist during my stay and they even offered to help with anything or get shopping etc. The apartment was spotless and I was gutted to be leaving after my 5 weeks. Beauly is such a lovely town too and I would highly recommend. Thank you both so much again for my stay! Ill definitely be back if I end up back near Inverness

A very comfortable flat with a well stocked kitchen, modern furniture and décor. I appreciated that it felt safe, very clean and had everything we needed for making a meal and eating in. The extra touch of a welcome dram went down well! We were surprised at how quiet it was, considering it was central to the amenities

The location was also ideal for eating our and visiting other parts of the Highlands. I have no hesitation in recommending and hope to be returning.

The apartment is freshly decorated, well appointed cosy and comfortable day and night.

The apartments wifi worked well for streaming and remote working and the tv and soundbar gave us all the entertainment we wanted.

The kitchen had great appliances and utensils etc. The bathroom was very pleasant and the shower was good too.
